Okay so, considering I'm from California, and all you Jersey bastards have the ability to stay where the hell you are to see TS live, I might as well take the time to inquire about when they're going to play some shows in places other than that of NJ. I wrote them on myspace some time ago about this, and all they really had to say is that things were going to start happening next year. Mind you I wrote them in December which would now be considered last year. So, here we are in 2006 and not a peep about any tour. No other shows announced except for the DTTS re-release show...which of course is taking place "one night only" in NJ, where all you lucky bastards get to freak out to the boys live AND cop the album WITH all of the bonus unreleased tracks and what have you...a curse upon all your houses.....So, does anyone have ANY inkling of info, or am I simply venting how jealous I am of you Jersey kids.
Yeah, I talked to Dan about booking them last year sometime and he told me that they were touring some time this year. Then I joined their board, frappr, and followed up my e-mail to Dan with a myspace message and learned that they're coming this summer... to Indiana. So, if I can get a show in my dinky midwest state, don't worry.. Cali will get some lovin'. I'm also guilty of ellipse abuse!

dude, where were you when trophy scars played two cali dates last summer? and what about the summer before that where they did like 10 or so cali dates with lorene drive? i can't believe how many people write about wanting them to come through their area when they already were and like the band is neglecting them or something! which they certainly are not... ...anyways, as of the release of the full length though, the band is a full time band so all of you can see them several times a year. be sure to join their frappr map and when they post their dates in mid-march for the first summer tour, see if you or someone you know can book one of the shows..and be sure to e mail me and we can work it out... ...contrary to what most people think, trophy scars isn't a huge band when looked at from the "music industry's" perspective, and its very tough to get national shows since we haven't been able to get them a worthy agent yet and we do the booking together as a team ourselves, so we really count on fans and other bands to help out and book shows themselves. i'd say about 50% of the dates on their last tour were done by fans and other bands helping out, and that is a beautiful thing since the only thing better than a fan, is a fan that becomes the band's friend, several people on this board know the meaning of that!
if you haven't joined the map, ****ing do it and GET YOUR FRIENDS to do it too, it takes two seconds...the link is on their myspace page...it will help us find out where you are and help convince promoters to book the date...DO EEEET!!!

Booking shows is HARD sometimes, but hey you can totally do it. I do... Sometimes I come off stupid, but I never let people know how much ability I have, it keeps me on top.
So here's what you do, call the club and be very professional about it. I'm a stickler about no slang or bad grammar when talking on the phone (I used to work phones... so I'm extra considerate to those who have to take lots of phone calls). You want to make a good impression because they're taking a chance on you. A lot of clubs and venues cost money, so get all your friends to pitch in for Tropy Scars. If you want to risk it, you can try using only your money. Around here it costs anywhere from nothing-$500 to rent out a venue. I set aside $200 in my bank account because I work with a partner and get smoe outside support too. Talk to some local bands to see if they will open for you, I like bands with good reputations because that helps bring people in. Even at the Fall of Troy show that I missed part of, many people came to see the openers. Also, when setting up the date, check out other venues to make sure that there's nothing else going on that will detract from your show. (This is more true for locals, but I bring in some lesser known bands from around the region to get them some exposure) Right now I'm setting up something with Quantice Never Crashed and I might set up another show for them in June. It's really fun and a great way to meet people you really admire. You just have to be outgoing. Sometimes you have to book shows that just can't happen. I am going to hate having to tell this band that we can't help them, but they don't have mp3's or a demo or anything and they kept changing their dates when they would be available. I'm pretty much a n00b myself, but I try... I'm willing to share what little I know if anyone would ask.

Dude, that really is a good question. I was either totally unastute to TS even existing, or was still in a funk over not being able to go to any shows, or I did in fact try but was unable to for mysterious reasons. Regardless, its not happening again, that I can assure you. And I totally know that TS is by no means a band with alot of commercial or public backing. Thats one of the primary reasons I love them so much. The deeper you go in music, and the less common the band is, the better the sound. All the great bands pretty much are only found beneath the surface. But ya, telling everyone about them has been part of my daily routine since I seriously got into them. The new album is gonna be a big boost to their name however.

Trophy Scars will probably end up in Chicago and somewhere in Texas. There's a lot of people who like them and go to their Frappr where it really matters. If they don't end up in Chicago itself, they're probably going to be in Crown Point, Indiana. I pwn Indiana.
