We used to play a cover of Lucinda live... we haven't done that in a while... something I would really like to bring back. We played a Halloween show in New Brunswick as Tom Waits, I think someone has that set on tape. We played Little Drop of Poison, All the World is Green, Lucinda, Jockey Full of Bourbon, Dead and Lovely, and Lie to Me. Maybe more? I was a little tipsy.
We are going to be doing a cover tune - but not for the EP, just as a free listen type of thing. I think we'll be doing an old Motown song... specifically a song by the Four Tops or the Ronettes. We're also thinking about releasing a single before the record of a track that didn't make it to Darkness... this may be a reworked version of the song Bad View or just another tune altogether.
We will be doing some touring this summer. We'll also have some new shirt designs at our upcoming shows. More info about Darkness as it comes.

I'm not sure when we're going to release Darkness... we would like to show it to labels and see if they have any interest - but if not, we'll release it ourselves by mid/end of summer. It's a summer driving record for sure.
The acoustic EP will be released digitally pretty much as soon as it's done being recorded - so probably next month or so. I've got to come up with a name for that one... We will also put Goodnight Alchemy and Darts/Sand in the Sea up on iTunes and other digital music vendors to purchase as well. We might tack on some extra goodies to those releases so not to cheat you out.
The cover song won't "officially" be released but it will be offered for free through various websites as soon as we finish recording it (probably mid-summer).
The single may actually be released a month after Darkness just because the abundant volume of material being pumped out may wash it out. The last thing we want to do is over-saturate the summer months. They can't all be creepy and sad.
John, Brian, and I will be working on assorted songs tonight. We should have a definitive track listing for the acoustic EP as well as an answer to which cover song we will be recording.
@Toast: We will most likely play Bay City, Flint, or Detroit this summer.
I am ****ing hungover.

yo ive been a big fan for years. i knew you guys covered tom but Lucinda is my favorite waits song. id be so sick if you guys did that. i could also hear a trophy version of ruby's arm. im really exited for the new cd. next time you guys are in nj or if i see you guys with snake child(jus cause hes datttt niggggga) ill make sure to roll up some dank.
i had a small fit when i read this, you are so REAL i don't know how to react! i'm listening to your lyrics and voice and reading your words and IT'S JUST ALL TOO MUCH.
i'm ****ing so excited that you guys are doing your thing for you. you are like the definition of what music should be. it's real nice being able to read your side of it all :D such a treat!
as for acoustic, oh, oh, OKAY THESE
darts: dreams of new orleans
hospital music: designed like dice
goodnight alchemy: don't fuss over spiders thrown
alphabets: apples
bad luck: good luck!
nup thats it can you guys stick around forever or at least until i get my career sorted so i can fkn fly to where you are!
It's sick to see you share so much about the new release. I've been a huge fan for about 6 years now, and with every release I'm continually astounded at how much the musical and lyrical growth taking place reflects the growth I've been experiencing in my own life. I got a chance to go to a show when I was mad depressed over the winter and it was the best I'd managed to feel in months. I just want to thank you for all the ****in excellent music you've made. Come play at the Court Tavern soon, I'll buy you guys a round haha. So stoked to hear the new records.
Also, it would be sick to see you guys and Nigel play some Natalie Fight songs while you're touring together. Just a thought
Thanks dude for your continuous support! I love going to shows and feeling that connectedness I haven't felt in ages; it truly is a profound notion. Hopefully we'll play the Court soon. We will definitely throw a Natalie Fight song in our set on this upcoming tour.

Jerry-I have been listening to Scars for a little over a year, and I am a huge fan. Any news on the tracklist for the acoustic EP or a release date? Can't wait for Darkness!
first off, can i say jerry, your band has changed my life. not only like my tastes, but the way i look at the world. i can honestly say trophy scars are my favourite band ever. so so so stoked for darkness and this new acoustic **** you've got going!
i'd say
darts - rachel i think he's dead hospital music - lindsay goodnight alchemy - lesson 3 & 4 alphabets - assistants (my favorite song of all time) bad luck - i think nola would sound really cool acoustic. or bad winter.
i know i'm a bit behind on this, but i only just found this forum.
i really respect what you put in your first post on this board about not wanting to scream and stuff, it takes alot of guts to change your style so much.
good luck everything scars does.
oh **** yeah, when the **** are you coming to england?!?! i'd actually come to the states to see you myself but i'm only 16, i've got no money or means of travel. please come as soon as you can, i've shown you to all my friends and they're also massive fans now.
anyway.
ps. watched the first episode of true blood today on a friends recomendation that you love it, it was ****ing amazing.
@smiff - no release date for either as of yet... but it won't be too much longer until we know.
two (more like 2.5) definite tracks that are completely re-written for the acoustic ep:
hair trigger
alchemists/apples medley
the next one we begin work on is lesson 3.
@joshscars - thanks a lot dude!! i'm glad we could be a part of that.
we have no current plans for uk tour, sadly. but maybe someday a record label over there will really like darkness and hook us up with a booking agent.
true blood is pretty good... it's not my favorite show. i must recommend lost and twin peaks though. both of those series changed my perspective on writing in general.
