Ruggero Deodato directed "Jungle Holocaust" too. It has no relation, just more gore.
Riz Ortelani made the famous and emotional score.
"Cannibal Holocaust" is banned in a dozen countries, including Italy (for a while), Norway, Austrailia, Finland, and The United Kingdom.
The special effects in the film were so realistic that director Ruggero Deodato reportedly had to go to court and prove that it was just make-up and fake blood and guts.
There will never be a "Cannibal Holocaust 2". Director Ruggero Deodato says that it was hell to make, and far too emotional to make again.
The intense scenes of animal torture and cruelty were not fake. Because of this, four weeks after the film's release in Italy, it was confiscated and declared obscene by the High Court. Deodato protested the motion and 3 years later it was re-released to its native country.
The film claims to be authentic. Some scenes are. In the documentary "The Road To Hell", which is featured for several minutes in the film, actual stock footage is blended seemlessly with false footage. The executions are actually real, though it is not very noticeable.
There were several scandals surrounding the distribution of "Cannibal Holocaust" which helped to promote the movie. A French magazine, Photo, wrote an article "Grand Guignol Cannibale", which actually stated (wrongly) that the film was genuine, and that there were actual disembowlments, impalings, etc., throughout.
The film was initially panned on by critics but ended up grossing a fair amount considering it was a cannibal film.
This film was shot using a variety of camera types and techniques
I hear it's possibly one of the worst movies ever created. I can't wait.
This one kid I know in school basically beats off to it but he's one of those sick gorehound freaks. So that might just be his naturally reaction to anything with chunks of flesh in it.
I have it. Everytime I try to install it it says there's a bunch of errors and it doesn't finish. So in light of the errors I was just wondering if anyone had it in something besides .avi.
