Dead.

You guys are caarazy... I'm so happy that you guys are really utilizing the board as a common space to share intelligent (well, haha sometimes) and insightful thoughts with eachother. To clear some things up... I know Patrock is not a racist - I actually know Pat well and anything he says should never be taken too seriously... He was born to offend you, if you get offended, that was his point. As far as the conversations about language - language isn't a flawed system -people are intrinsically flawed and have the ability to ruin language (e.g. racist language). Words are not just words and people have a right to be offended by them, but people also don't have to be offended. If Drew takes offense to certain words, I think he has every right to. We absolutely make words taboo (f.uck being one of the greatest examples), but words are also armed to the letters with weapons. That's what makes lyrics so effective - they no longer become words. A word like n.igger denotes centuries of opression and reminds us of social stratification - and in specific, malicious contexts the word stratifies communication. And I know I wasn't opressed, but I READ about it... I studied it... and the word makes me sad... and then the word gets tossed around in popculture - in a completely different context and it becomes ok. Patti Smith writes "Rock 'n Roll, N.igger" and it's not racism. Nas writes "Last N.igga Alive" and it's not racism - in fact both these songs are profound. Then Screwdriver writes "N.igger I Hate Your Face" and it's upsetting - it retains hatred in language.... that's an awful thing to do to something so pretty... something so moving. I guess what I'm saying is that - please be mindful on this message board that words can silence and marginalize other voices. And that's not fair... I mean have fun! But please be respectful of this beautiful thing we call "language" and be aware that people are sensitive to language (I know I am, I still cry like a baby when I hear Bankrupt on Selling). Thanks.

OK... sorry. I have the official track listing to the record. I just finished recording all the vocals and I must say I have never been happier with how things came out. You will hear an eclectic range of classic Scars, hip-hop, old school hc, folk, and classic rock among other things... Word.
Alphabet. Alphabets.
1. An Introduction. All Introductions.
2. Artist. Artists.
3. Assistant. Assistants.
4. Assassin. Assassins.
5. Accent. Accents.
6. Apparition. Apparitions.
7. Yes.
8. No.
9. Absolute. Absolutes.
10. Alchemist. Alchemists.
11. Addict. Addicts.
12. Alligator. Alligators.
13. Alibi. Alibis.
14. Apple. Apples.
15. Anxiety. Anxieties.
16. A Song Begins with "A". Almost All These Songs Begin with "A".

Yup... so there it is. In all of its 16 track glory. I'm so excited and proud; Trophy Scars as a collective unit believes this is the most mature, well thought out, and experimental record we've done so far. DO NOT expect Goodnight Alchemy... at all. I would love to show you all but Angel (our boss haha) would have me drawn and quatered if I did that. We will most likely put one of those guys up after we re-release Darts to the Sea.
See you soon!
Jer

Well put, Jerry. I'm gonna get you a mango juice just for that.

If I may stray from the discussion of language, I'd like to just throw this out there. The events and shows broadcasted tonight on national television have done nothing more than further my rapid loss of hope in the seemingly doomed human race(or at least the one portrayed by popular television). That's right, an MTV hour special on eating contests. Now, I'm not one to judge a person's hobby or passtime, but these people have successfuly turned an essential and vital life function, into a barbaric, glutonous competition. I don't even know what I'm trying to get at right now, but If anyone else had the pleasure of viewing this bull****, please share your feelings. This goes right down in the books with the 3rd grade spelling bees on ESPN, yeah, seen that too. Fuck this, I need a beer.

...speaking of beer, someone owes me a bottle of tequila.

(Hopefully I don't sound like a crazy fangirl)
I'm glad what we say means something to you because like we've all said, your words mean so much to us. I'm very much like you... from what you say in that past post. I think a lot of us here are. Different triggers, different addictions-- but essentially that's why we were drawn to your music, to this board, and a lot of us have friends from this board that extend further than ranting about our favorite band. (I'm terrible at being serious unless I'm angry, so it's hard for me phrase things the way I'm thinking them)
I was already thinking about my... track record. Who I've slept with, who've I've mindlessly falling in love with, who I've admired, who I am with now. For as old as I am, the first part of my list is very long... I don't regret it. I don't like it. I don't know. I'm starting to ramble now.

The point is, we like you, you like us and we can all be friends. I need a shower and to lighten up a bit.

Well said Tanya.

Jerry, here, we've all f.ucked up and we've all been f.ucked over. We all relate to your words like twins relate. You've been an inspiration to me because of all those things you just said (and more). Yes, you are a kid. But I'm a kid too, and we both wish that we could convey our thoughts and sort them out like drawing a map, but usually we can't. -And that frustration shows and it is reflected in your music. And I wish I could accomplish the same. I wish I could get to that plateau. It feels like I have thoughts and philosophies ready in my head, but it doesn't come out. And if I finally latch on to a peice, I then feel enlightened. For some reason though, I can't follow through with my own thoughts. I can't get myself to stick to my own ideals and philosophies. Like you said, "I want to change things." In my own introspection (that was inspired by your words), I've realized that I need to change myself and I hope that that is the solution I've been looking for that can cause things to change on the outside. Your words have served as a great lesson to me. And with everything I read and hear from you, I learn more and gain more insight. You were right with what you said about communication. I was completely wrong, Words are everything. And It doesn't matter as much who said the words, what matters is the thought behind each word. Yes, you are just a kid, but we all have insight, including kids. Every person's perspective is something that we need to cherish. I value your perspective above everyone else's. So just because you're a kid doesn't mean that the affect created by your words is childish.
In Moby Dick, Herman Melville used a savage foreigner (Queequeg, for those that have read it) to provide insight on scenarios. This character always had the simple perspective on events. This character was used as a "child's perspective." You realize things are more complicated than Ockham's Razor (the simple solution is usually the right solution). So for that, you are greater than a child. You understand the vast profundity of things. You are more than a kid. I have evaluated things in life as three stages: child-where thoughts are simple, transititional-where we realize everything is complicated and we try to help ourselves escape the complexity, then adult- where I hope everything becomes clear and above the complexity of things. Like a corporation- the blue colors are simple, then middle management is confusing and complex, then owning the company is easy and relaxed. You're on the verge of making the transition, we all are here. That's why we relate so well and take your writting to heart. Your words are who we are. -and what we live by.

Well, at least I hope it's all like that. This probably didn't help and it was just a waste of time to type/read, but oh well.-maybe it did.

We all admire you (and it's for something greater than "because he's in a cool band"), and that is something to be proud of. You're my idol, Jerry Jones.

I'm glad you appritiated that. When I write lyrics about my thoughts, they can never materialize into anything, so I'm glad I could express myself in that response.

And about being a kid- I have a friend that's 15 and he is dreading turning 16 because that "seals the deal."

Lean on me, when you're not strong. I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on. (invites people to join in, then realizes this isn't a bad movie) I needed to lighten up the air. I don't have a way with words at all when you speak to me. I can type and write a lot better because I can slow down and think or erase if I need to... I'm always surprised when anything from my mouth or mind is intelligable.

but you're hilarious and pretty -so that's all that matters.

I hope one day I'll be able to express myself through words without even trying.

I agree with you to the umptenth degree bro. We all should just chill out and talk about everything else that trully matters....like good music, good lyrics, each other, boobs, ramen, weird title tracks, and all that other stuff that makes life such a comedy. So...friends everybody!?!!?

PS

And yeah, Pat, now that your up to speed on exactly how craptacular MTV is. We can now go on for days TOGETHER about how fully asinine its become. I banned that god awful station from my eyes years ago and have never looked back. It has nothing to do with music, the "music" it actually does play are the five exact same bull**** pop songs about "grills" and "chedda" and mindless dribble of that origin. Its a total travesty how far insight in culture has gotten. Especially since we, the youth are now a bunch of Abercrombe and Volcom wearin, super cut having, can't read past one syllable, sex crazed, drug driven, truck drunk driven, knuckleheads.....its kind of a bummer ya Well thats excluding all you guys of course. So that I can breathe a sigh of relief to.

If I wasn't so ****ing shy and lame, I would love to meet Jerry (as most of you already have).  Your words just find a way to dig deep inside of the innerworkings of my brain, refusing to come out for weeks...

These guys have all inspired me so much, I need to meet all of them. I want to meet a lot of the people on this message board too. These are some righteous cats.

You guys should just take the chance and meet them. People are always lonely or feel ignored because the ones who do care about them don't always want to be put out to show that. I'm not putting anyone down at all because I know there is such a big stupid stigma with wanting to meet your favorite band.
It's just that, you care enough to be on here ALL THE TIME... so why not show them that.
I'm always the ballsy one in the group too. After elementary school I because comfortable with people thinking I was weird, so I always asked questions wich were sooo taboo and I always told the boys that I liked them myself. There's lots of words in this post, so I'll just separate things so it's easier to read.
So, if anyone in the band is reading this, go give me a call. My number is in these boards like a million times or I have aim. I'm really cool.
If anyone else wants to call me... go for it. I'm really cool.

the best thing about meeting bands is when they like you and hang out with you all show long.

Just be yourself. Don't try to come up with something witty if you aren't a witty person. Don't come up with ssome complaint. Just tell them that they played a good set and take it from there.

I don't care who it is that you have met, or are striving to meet: Be it your girlfriend's dad, the President of the U.S, a band, or a Nascar driver, they are all JUST people. Real, tangible, people. It sounds cliche, but I'm so damn serious. That is why I hate people's desires for autographs and all that other nonsensical bull****, just to prove they've met them. Take a picture with them, drink a beer with them, give them a handjob they'll never forget, like something you would do with your, already close, friends. Maybe some of these people are down for all the attention, but my best bet is, they just want to be treated and respected like anyone else. So you shouldn't be anymore nervous to talk to Jerry than the kid that sits next to you in your bio lab. While I'll admit, Jerry has accomplished so many things and deserves respect and admiration, don't turn him into some kind of unattainable icon. He's just plain and simple, a great guy. Infact, I can't say I've ever met a more genuine and sincere group of guys in my entire life. I have never heard so many appreciative "pleases" and "thank yous". I remember Jerry washing his hands before he ate and THEN washing off his dishes when he was done! I was astounded, my FRIENDS dont even do that! John ran into the store to get something to drink and asked me if I wanted anything. Dan called me a fag once or twice. For me to be completely comfortable with 6 guys that I've never met really says something. I'm so glad they came all the way out to bro down and play an awesome show in the hot and ****ty desert, because I had one of the best times of my life, and I made a few life-long friends.

Jerry, I still remember, like it was yesterday, how pristine you looked out by my pool...wet body glistening in the sun, hair blowing carelessly, shorts almost revealing...I need a cold shower...or a hose. Bye all.

I don't want to meet them just so I can say I met them. I want to have a conversation with them to learn things. To experience things. Meeting our idols is how we master ourselves. I don't need their autographs (though i'll take if they offer). These are people that I look up to, so meeting them makes that all the more real.
